L01: INTRODUCTION TO INFORMATION SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

Virtual Information Treasure Hunt
Instructions: Information retrieval and evaluation skills are integral to information science. This assignment is designed to provide experience in collaboration and share insights that can enhance everyone's understanding.
My work: The article I read was about how common it is to get interrupted at work and how we don't really know much about what that does to how well people do their jobs. It looks into things like how often these interruptions happen. The article also talks about what two experiments found out: getting interrupted can actually help you when you're doing easy tasks, but it can make you worse at harder tasks.

Discussion - Introduce Yourself and Explain What Interests You Most in IT
Hi, I'm Josh Epstein. I haven't settled on a specific path yet, but I'm leaning towards a business career. The area within IT that interests me most is computer science. I excel at staying organized and working with numbers, but I procrastinate and sometimes find it hard to stay focused.

Reflection Statement
For the Virtual Information Treasure Hunt assignment, I dived into an article about how work interruptions affect us differently based on task difficulty, which was exciting and challenging to find due to the sheer amount of information out there. Navigating through a maze of library databases and deciding whether the information was trustworthy taught me a lot about the importance of being patient and critical when looking for reliable sources. This experience sharpened my skills in finding and evaluating information—crucial in today's info-packed world—and showed me how teamwork and sharing different viewpoints can deepen our understanding of complex topics, especially in tech and information science.
